SVEB Certificate in Zurich: SVEB 1 Zurich

What exactly is SVEB?

The SVEB is a Swiss association for continuing education. It was founded in 1951 under the name "Swiss Association for Adult Education", from which the current abbreviation is derived. The aim of this association is the coordination of different institutions for further education, as well as the assurance of a high quality of the further education offer in Switzerland.

The SVEB represents industry interests within politics. In concrete terms, this means that the association acts as a liaison between continuing education institutions and the federal government. Together, they develop framework conditions for professional certifications that are recognized throughout Switzerland.

Members consist of private and government providers, associations, in-house training departments, and individuals.

SVEB's head office is in Zurich, but it also has a regional secretariat in each of the French and Italian parts of Switzerland.

As of 2021, SVEB has 766 members.

Who makes decisions within SVEB?

The SVEB consists of three bodies: the Assembly of Delegates, the Board of Directors and the Forum romand.

The Assembly of Delegates is the supreme body of the SVEB. The assembly takes place annually in May. Traditionally, the association organizes a symposium on a current education policy topic after the DM. The conference is free of charge and is aimed at all interested stakeholders in continuing education.

The Forum romand is an advisory body to the office in French-speaking Switzerland.

What is part of the SVEB's remit?

One of the association's projects is the SVEB certificate, which allows knowledgeable individuals to conduct and lead continuing education in their field. Formerly known as SVEB I, it has now been replaced by two training courses. The so-called "SVEBCertificate Instru ctor - Conducting Learning Events" is aimed at people who want to lead groups. The "SVEBCertificate Instructor - Individual Coaching", on the other hand, is intended for people who want to accompany adults individually in private lessons.
