She helped me use my KulturLegi card, which was very important to me. The school has modern equipment, excellent materials, and some teachers are better than others—which is normal at any school. Are there any intensive German courses in Zurich that meet in the afternoon?

Yes. At ILS Zürich , you can take an intensive German course in the afternoon. Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This makes the course particularly suitable for people who work, study, take care of children, or have other commitments in the morning but still want to learn German on a regular basis.

Who would benefit most from an afternoon German class?

An afternoon German course is ideal if your mornings are already scheduled but you don’t want to wait until the evening to take classes. The course is a good fit, for example, for part-time workers, students, parents, or people with flexible work schedules. With classes four days a week, you can maintain an intensive learning pace without having to set aside the entire day for the language course.

Is the afternoon intensive course also suitable for beginners in German?

Yes. The intensive afternoon course is offered at ILS Zürich from A1 to C1. This means you can start even if you have little or no knowledge of German. If you already speak German, you can enter directly into a higher level or sub-level, depending on your placement test results.

How quickly can I reach a certain level of German with an intensive afternoon course?

For levels A1, A2, and B1, each full level lasts 12 weeks and consists of 96 lessons. Levels B2 and C1 each last 16 weeks and consist of 128 lessons. Individual sub-levels may also be taken. Levels A1.1 through B1.2 each last 6 weeks, and levels B2.1 through C1.2 each last 8 weeks.

Can I take just half a German language level, such as A1.1 or B1.2?

Yes. You don't always have to enroll in an entire level. The afternoon intensive course can also be taken as a single sub-level. This is convenient if you've already completed part of a level or simply want to focus on learning until you reach the next language level.

What is the advantage of an intensive afternoon course over an evening course?

In the afternoon intensive course, you’ll study four times a week, which keeps you in regular contact with the German language. A traditional evening course, on the other hand, meets less frequently and is geared more toward people who only have time after work. The afternoon intensive course is therefore a good choice if you’re available during the day and want to make faster progress without having to attend a morning course that lasts several hours.

How large are the groups in the afternoon German class?

At ILS Zürich , a maximum of 8 people study together in the afternoon intensive course. Small groups allow for more active speaking time and give the teacher the opportunity to address questions and individual challenges more specifically. Especially when learning a language intensively, this can help students use German more often on their own instead of just listening.
