Preparation and Registration

The Oxford Test of English is a digital English language test published by Oxford University Press. It assesses reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills and is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The test covers levels A2 through B2. There is also the Oxford Test of English Advanced for levels B2 through C1.
Registration through an authorized testing center in Switzerland. There, you will select a date and complete the registration online.
Yes. The test is modular. Reading, listening, writing, and speaking can be booked individually or in combination.

Examination procedure

The Oxford Test of English is taken on a computer. The reading and listening sections are adaptive and automatically adjust to the candidate's level.
The test assesses the four skills of reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
The total duration is about two hours, depending on the modules selected.

Reading: approx. 30–35 minutes
Listening: approx. 30 minutes
Writing: approx. 45 minutes
Speaking: approx. 15 minutes

Exam Day

A valid government-issued photo ID (passport or ID card).
None. Dictionaries, smartphones, or other aids are not permitted.
Yes. Computers and headphones are provided by the testing center.
The exam fee must be paid in full no later than the day of the exam; otherwise, you will not be able to take the exam.

Results and Certificate

The results for the reading and listening sections are available immediately after the test. The writing and speaking sections are usually graded within a few days.
The results will be made available online via the exam portal.
Yes. The test can be taken as many times as you like.
Yes. Individual modules can be retaken separately.
The certificate has no official expiration date. However, individual institutions may have their own requirements.
